Winona woman shot and robbed by visitor who woke her up
WINONA, Minn. — A Winona woman reportedly was awakened last weekend by a knock at her door.
She thought it might be the police. Instead, a man who ended up shooting and robbing her.
The 28-year-old was shot once in the leg. Police, who were called to the W. Fifth Street home around 3:45 a.m. Sunday, said the man, perhaps in his 30s, then hit her repeatedly in the head, before taking her wallet and credit cards.
The woman was taken to a hospital. No one is charged yet in the attack. Police believe the victim was targeted.
