A changing of the guard this year at the top of the La Crosse Police Department was voted as our newsroom’s #5 story for 2019.

In June, La Crosse residents learned that Chief Ron Tischer had been hired to head the police department in Payson, Arizona.

Tischer had been in La Crosse for seven years.

Rob Abraham was named acting police chief when Tischer left town, but Abraham did not seek the job full-time.

Kudron was promoted to chief, and took his oath of office on September 30th, the day after the close of Oktoberfest.

Chief Kudron has worked for the La Crosse police since 2000.

Tischer said he hoped that his successor would continue improvements that he had worked on in La Crosse.
