Lansing bridge over Mississippi River to be closed two hours in afternoons this week
Iowa’s Department of Transportation is alerting drivers that the Blackhawk Bridge, in Lansing, will be closed this week between 1-3 p.m for construction of the new bridge.
These short term closures will continue daily throughout the week, the DOT said.
The new bridge costs an estimated $140 million.
Construction for it started in October and is expected to be finished by the end of 2026.
The existing bridge, which was built in 1931 as a private toll bridge, will be demolished in 2027.
