We got La Crosse Education Association co-president Jesse Martinez’s reaction to last week’s elections for school board, supreme court and Department of Public Instruction, and we also spoke about a fun, student-led March madness bracket.

La Crosse Talk airs weekdays at 6-8 a.m. Listen on the WIZM app, online here, or on 92.3 FM / 1410 AM / 106.7 FM (north of Onalaska). Find all the podcasts here or subscribe to La Crosse Talk wherever you get your podcasts.

Martinez, basically the teachers’ union co-president with Jill Schams, is also a Logan Middle School teacher. We began the show talking about these student brackets consisting of candy, movies and restaurants.

After that, we discussed how the teachers’ union and the school board play a role with each other.

In regards to the statewide elections, we talked about how the Supreme Court’s decision on Act 10 would affect La Crosse teachers and what they want to see with another four years from Dr. Jill Underly, reelected as the head of the Department of Public Instruction.
