The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said that Johnsonville is recalling more than 22,000 pounds of cheddar bratwurst because it may contain hard plastic.

Two consumers complained after they found the plastic in the brats. No one has reported any injuries so far.

Johnsonville packaged the cheddar brats on February 5, 2025, in 19-ounce trays with five pieces of “Johnsonville BRATS CHEDDAR Bratwurst” and the package code of B9FOD.

The package also has the establishment number of “Est. 1647” on the front of the label.

Wisconsin and Minnesota were two of the states where the brats were sold.

The FSIS also suggests people check their freezers if they’ve recently purchased cheddar bratwurst.

They urge people to either throw away the brats or return them to the store where they were purchased.
