“Serious threat” shuts down Central High School in La Crosse

A “serious threat” has led to Central High School in La Crosse being shut down Thursday.

A letter from Central principal Jeff Axness to parents said police were investigating the validity of the threat directed toward the school, and because of timing, they would err on the side of caution and have closed.

That will give the La Crosse Police Department and administration time to investigate, the letter added.

More info will be shared with staff and families when it becomes available.

Just a few weeks ago Winona Senior High School was investigated after a Snapchat screenshot mentioned shooting up a school. The school mentioned in the screenshot was “Central High School” but it had been deemed a hoax by both Winona and La Crosse police.
