Girl Scouts introduce Becoming Me program

Girl Scouts will unlock the power of their unique story and attend a special members-only event with Mrs. Obama to kick off the summer Becoming Me series.

There’s a very exciting opportunity for Girl Scouts coming this summer that’s free for all those who are registered.

The Girl Scouts have collaborated with former First Lady Michelle Obama and are introducing the Becoming Me program. The main event with Mrs. Obama is on May 6 but it is part of series launch for Becoming Me events that Girl Scouts that will be running all summer.

“The event actually has a bunch of sub events that run all summer from civic engagements, community service, STEM projects, science projects,” Membership Recruitment Specialist, Teressa Roe, said on Classic Hits 94.7 this week. “So, there’s a lot of opportunities for girls to explore the areas that they’re interested in over the course of this summer. It’s multifaceted and whether she’s in 4k NOW or going to be going into 12th grade next year, there’s events and activities for girls at every level. “

They also have a local summer series called Pixie Power that goes with the extended membership. Girls will be invited to those activities all summer long, virtually.

On top of that, there are local troops planning fishing, camping, hiking and biking trips. For girls that want to get outside now, it’s a good time to rejoin and be able to participate in those summer activities.

Roe also stressed that they don’t want cost to be an issue for girls interested in joining. They have scholarships and financial assistance for families, so reach out for more information.
