La Crosse County health dept. cancels public briefing, puts out statement saying COVID-19 Compass will no longer be updated

The La Crosse County Health Department cancelled its public briefing for Wednesday.

It did, however, put out a statement that the COVID-19 Compass will no longer be updated.

The compass was used in multiple counties to update the community on the activity level of the virus and recommendations for the public.

Not much other information was shared, except that info on the virus evolves and the department needs to be flexible.

It said Friday there will be a public briefing on a new “community based process” in collaboration with healthcare partners, that might replace the compass.

That meeting will be at 11:30 a.m. and can be viewed on the WIZM Facebook page.
