No new cases in La Crosse, as Minnesota sets highs in cases, deaths

No new cases of COVID-19 in La Crosse County on Friday.

There were also no new cases in Trempealeau or Vernon counties. Trempealeau remains at 13 and Vernon at 17, after adding four Thursday, including two children under 10 years old.

Statewide, nine deaths were reported, along with 511 cases — the second-most ever. The record was set three days ago at 528.

A record 9,976 tests were returned Friday — 566 more than the previous record yesterday.

Milwaukee County accounts for 362 of the 511 new cases, but 36 of Wisconsin’s 72 counties had additional case numbers or deaths.

In Minnesota, after the state saw its most deaths Thursday, a new single-day high was set with 33 deaths Friday. Thursday there were 32.

The state also tied the high for number of cases at 805. The state also had that many cases May 15.

Winona County saw one more case of the virus, after five consecutive days without. Winona now has 76 total cases. Houston County remains at two.
