One of the six men charged with drug possession in a Gillette St. bust last week allegedly committed a new crime less than 24 hours after leaving jail.

Dai’Twon Cowson of La Crosse is now charged with bail jumping and with skipping out on an $18 cab fare.

The 20-year-old was released from jail on a signature bond Tuesday. The next morning, he allegedly took a cab ride from Charles St. to the Kwik Trip on Cass St.

Police said Cowson went inside the store and the driver checked on him twice in 20 minutes but he was gone by the second time.

Cowson was arrested on Thursday while he and a woman were at the courthouse.

He suggested to police that the woman was supposed to have paid the cab fare and a criminal complaint quotes him as saying, “Bitch set me up.”
