La Crosse needs ramp workers, not parking coordinator
That may be the biggest problem in keeping La Crosse’s parking ramps clean and safe may be this simple: Too many bosses, and not enough workers.
The city’s parking board has heard from Bob Haines from the public works department about the large amount of work needed to clean a ramp of litter – labor that often is assigned to just one person.
Haines said he has to perform ramp maintenance himself when that contract worker isn’t available.
He urges the city to hire more maintenance workers for the ramps, rather than creating a new management position of parking coordinator.
