Doyle wary of idea to merge college systems

A closed door meeting will be held today by 5 GOP lawmakers who will begin studying the idea of merging Wisconsin’s 16 technical colleges with the UW’s 13 two year colleges and Extension service.

Not sitting too well in the early going with Onalaska assemblyman, Steve Doyle who has some immediate concerns.  He hopes this isn’t the first step in dismantling the entire UW System.  He also points out that the state’s technical college system has different roles and missions from the UW Colleges.  He says he’d be willing to listen to the merger idea but would probably need some convincing that it’s a good plan.
