Municipalities Bracing for Bad News From Budget Address
Like leaders of municipalities all over the state, La Crosse mayor Tim Kabat is feeling more than a little trepidation about what governor Walker will propose in his budget address today. He’s expecting to feel some pinch in aid from the state in the form of shared revenue. But Kabat’s also not certain of that
The state is facing a $2.2 billion dollar projected budget shortfall. In his first term, Walker addressed a $3.6 billion deficit by cutting aid to schools and local governments, along with other actions.
