Ok So What Is A Parklet?
The parklet plan is working its way through different city committees in La Crosse.
Both the parking utility board and the board of public works have given a green light to the proposal for fancy seating areas to be placed on existing parking spaces. Robin Moses with Downtown Mainstreet, Incorporated says businesses would volunteer to sponsor the parklets, which would not be forced on them by City Hall:
The special spaces could be extensions of outdoor seating at restaurants and bars. As many as five parklets could be developed, beginning next year.
