French Island Family to Get Christmas Surprise

A French Island family is going to get a major Christmas surprise Friday afternoon thanks to the creativity and generosity of several local individuals and organizations. Matthew Henderson, of Henderson Motorsports and La Crosse Speedway announcer Dan Deicher wanted to spread some holiday cheer, so they found a French Island family of racing enthusiasts who could use some extra support this holiday season. The duo worked in partnership with the School District of La Crosse to obtain the children’s Christmas wish list and added some extra items to the list as well.

On Friday December 20th at 3:30 p.m. Henderson will roll into the family’s driveway at 1918 Lakeshore Drive in his La Crosse Speedway Nascar late model to surprise the family with their Christmas wish list.  His caravan of goodness will include Santa Claus and Speedway announcer Dan Deicher.

“I have children and know how fortunate they have been during this time of the year,” shares Deicher, also a radio personality for Midwest Family Broadcasting. “Being in the media, it breaks my heart doing stories of children and families that have to deal with financial hardships and that they cannot give their children what they want to for Christmas.”

When the Henderson racing team approached Deicher with the idea of giving back this holiday season, Deicher wasn’t surprised.

“Matt Henderson, his wife Brittany and his entire family racing crew have entertained racing fans in the area for quite some time. They wanted to give back, and along with Altra Federal Credit Union, Midwest Family Broadcasting, and other donations we are able to do just that.”

In addition, the children will each receive a new winter coat as part of Operation Stay Warm sponsored by the La Crosse Firefighters IAFF Local 127.

Henderson and the caravan will leave Summit Elementary School’s parking lot at 3:30 p.m. and drive to 1918 Lakeshore Drive to surprise the family and their four children.
