On Monday, Democratic Party of Wisconsin chair Ben Wikler and former Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes will be the headliners for the La Crosse County Democratic Party membership drive.

The event happens from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Capella Arts Center (721 King St.). Many others from the state party will be at the event, where attendees can sign up to be a member and hear from party officials, as well as candidates up and down the ballot.

Democratic State Assembly Reps Jill Billings and Steve Doyle, as well as new candidates like former La Crosse County Board chair Tara Johnson, who is running for the 96th Assembly District, should be in attendance. State Sen. Brad Pfaff will be there, as well.

Also, US House candidates Rebecca Cooke, Katrina Shankland and Eric Wilson will also be at the event. The winner of that primary will take on Republican Derrick Van Orden.

Here’s La Crosse County and 3rd US House District Democratic Party chair William Garcia on the Democratic Voice podcast discussing some of the details with Monday’s event and what joining the county party is about.
