The La Crosse area had some of the lowest gas prices in western Wisconsin this weekend.
La Crosse County’s average price for gas on Sunday was $3.25 a gallon, according to the Gas Buddy website. Many stations in the county were selling regular for as low as $3.17. In Jackson County, the average price was down to $3.12 per gallon. Prices were higher in several counties south of La Crosse.
Gas prices have dropped well below 3 dollars a gallon in some parts of Wisconsin, especially near Milwaukee. The lowest price in the state on Gas Buddy on Sunday afternoon was $2.80, at stations in Pewaukee and Waukesha.
Gas Buddy says the state average in Wisconsin is $3.23, which is 25 cents below the Minnesota average.
Lower seasonal demand for gasoline and a switch to winter blends are cited by experts as reasons for the falling pump prices.
