One of Wisconsin’s U.S. Senators is welcoming reductions in medical costs for senior citizens.

Democrat Tammy Baldwin visited a Gundersen Health System pharmacy in Onalaska on Wednesday, to call attention to changes resulting from the Inflation Reduction Act passed in Congress.

Baldwin said progress is being made in lowering the costs of insulin and other treatments, but not everyone is able to afford their health care.

“We heard from two people with diabetes,” Baldwin said. “One was a senior on Medicare, and was getting it with no more than $35 out of pocket, but the other was not yet Medicare-eligible, and was talking about, it’s not just the cost of the insulin, it’s the cost of treatment of co-morbidities, and the test strips, and all the other things.”

Baldwin also spoke at La Crosse’s Riverside Park, expressing concerns about treatment for mental health and access to reproductive care.

On Thursday, the senator is scheduled to visit both Fort McCoy and Volk Field, to look into improvements that could be made at those military sites.

“When we have reservists coming to train, both the summer training and the winter training, they’re staying in pre-World War II era buildings,” Baldwin told WIZM News. “(The buildings) have shown that they’re really wearing down and not meeting today’s needs.”

Baldwin said she has been helping the Army’s efforts to modernize the buildings at McCoy.

She was one of many political leaders to visit Fort McCoy in the summer of 2021, when refugees from Afghanistan were housed at the Monroe County base for several weeks.

Good grief. They have spent over a billion $ at Ft McCoy over the last few years. That must have at least been enough to replace the toilet seats.

Volk Field is about a half-hour from Baldwins Madison office and we get a dog and pony show for her showing up there?

These folks ought to quit blowing smoke. Most Americans are one illness from poverty. Reducing the cost of insulin is a good thing, if it is truly reduced, that said, what does it do for the actual cost of health care. Did the cost of that insulin go down or did the perception of it go down because the US government decided to subsidize that cost.

Please, please, please leave the cost of health insurance out of this discussion. Health insurance is cost mitigation for those big things, we have however conflated it with ‘prepaid’ health care. We take our health care dollars, give them to an insurance company to create a rotating door payment plan, hoping that when it is our turn to collect, they will be there.

I keep hearing from folks on WIZM how the democrat party is the party of the little people, how their policies enhance our lives, my disposable income goes down, every single time a democrat gets into office. It either goes down because my taxes go up, without a proportional improvement in services rendered, or it goes down because that party decides to ignite an inflation bonfire, or they get on some big kick, such as now, where they are going to save the world from ourselves and make energy as expensive as possible.

Democrat & faux republican policy, let’s vote for Abortion, at all costs, so that we can keep voters and spread some silly story about keeping people in the work force and providing for self determination, and at the same time let’s expand our budgets to feed, house, clothe, entertain, modify genders, quasi-educate those children that survive pregnancy and open the borders to get the cheap, unskilled labor that our crony capitalists require.

Save me the congratulatory crap for Tammy Baldwin and her ilk…..

The democrat party is the party of crumbs and so called turkish delight. One issue to find them, and in their taxes bind them.
