The hardest of questions Tuesday for Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers on La Crosse Talk PM.

We ask the governor to define what it means to go “Up north,” as this debate has waged on with Wiscos Sports Show host Grant Bilse on Twitter.

We also talked to Evers about his 30 visit to Western Wisconsin already this year — which is once a week — and if La Crosse is his favorite place in the state. And, spoiler alert, it isn’t because he likes the water skiing, like his predecessor, Tommy Thompson.

La Crosse Talk PM airs weekdays at 5:06 p.m. Listen on the WIZM app, online here, or on 92.3 FM / 1410 AM / 106.7 FM (north of Onalaska). Find all the podcasts here or subscribe to La Crosse Talk PM wherever you get your podcasts.

In between that, however, we talked about child care funding in the state, as Republicans ended a program that was subsidizing the industry through federal dollars and didn’t renew it with state money. Wisconsin still maintains a $3.5 billion budget surplus.

After that, La Crosse city council member Dr. Mark Neumann joined to continue the conversation about childcare, as the council just passed $400,000 in ARPA funding to help there — after $2 million was spent a few years ago.

We also asked Neumann about the legislation passed last week that better defines camping — or no camping — in the city, as there have been complaints about homeless people in parks.
