According to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, a random check of a car already stopped on the side of the road led to two arrests.

Around 5:30 a.m. Sunday, a deputy checked on the vehicle along State Highway 27 just south of US Highway 14 in the Town of Franklin.

The driver and passenger in the car both had outstanding warrants, while “drug paraphernalia relating to the use of methamphetamine,” debit cards belonging to others and someone else’s ID were also found, according to the release.

The car was stopped on State Highway 27, just south of Highway 14.

The driver, Edward Boystad, Jr., 42, of Caledonia, Minn., had an arrest warrant in Minnesota, a revoked license and was in possession of the debit cards and the ID, the release said. It did not state how many debit cards were found.

Mariah Williamson, 24, of La Crosse, had an outstanding warrant with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, the release stated.

The two were taken to the Vernon County Detention Center.

“Formal charges will be sought through the Vernon County District Attorney,” the release added.
