Suspect in West Salem overdose death is jailed in La Crosse

An Arkansas man charged with reckless homicide in a drug overdose case has now arrived at the La Crosse County jail.

Lathan Foster was booked in the jail on Friday, more than two weeks after being arrested in Arkansas for the December death of Jeremy Pittman of West Salem. Foster is likely to appear in court on Monday.

A criminal complaint against Foster was filed in La Crosse County in early July. Police believe he gave drugs, that included fentanyl, to Pittman, who was found dead at his home last New Year’s Eve.

Fentanyl was determined to be the cause of Pittman’s death.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
