Helicopters to fly over Rotary Lights again

Here’s another sign that Rotary Lights will be starting soon: the La Crosse board of public works has approved helicopter rides for two weekends of the holiday light show this December. 

City staffer Greg Elsen says the helicopter rides will be operated much as they were last winter, with flights beginning and ending at the southside festgrounds.   

The flights over downtown La Crosse will be offered on six nights between December 11th and 20th.  Rotary Lights begins the night after Thanksgiving.

In La Crosse’s Riverside Park, crews have been busy for several days now getting the park ready for the 26th annual Christmas display. 

November 27th will be the opening night for Rotary Lights this year.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.

    Terry Bauer and all who have worked, prayed and served our beloved LaCrosse Riverside Park Christmas decorations are to be commended. Watching and reading the WIZM reports and pictures lifted my spirits!
