Car dealer donates face shields to Mayo in Onalaska
A clinic in Onalaska receives needed personal equipment to treat COVID-19 and other illnesses, courtesy of an area car dealership.
Brenengen Auto delivered 117 plastic face shields on Tuesday to the nearby Mayo Clinic in the Theater Road area.
Mayo vice president Dr. Paul Mueller was on hand to accept the donation, and try out the shields.
“We’re very appreciative of the Brenengen auto group for their generosity,” said Mueller. “We’re deeply humbled by the outpouring of support that we’ve received from our community partners. We’re all in this together, fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.”
The Kia car company has been making face shields at a Georgia plant, at the rate of about 200,000 a month.
Dave Prendergast, a manager for Brenengen’s Kia line, says one of his neighbors is a doctor, so choosing Mayo for the shield donation was an easy decision.
Brenengen expects to make future donations in the area, as Kia sends face shields to its dealers around the U.S.
