One new case from area counties surrounding La Crosse

Only one area county surrounding La Crosse saw a rise in COVID-19 cases on Tuesday.

That county was Trempealeau, which is up to 21 total cases, after getting another case for the third consecutive day.

La Crosse County remains at 51, Vernon 17, Winona 78, Allamakee 118 and Houston at two.

Allamakee County, in the northeast corner of Iowa, added another case, for a total of 119.


STATEWIDE TOTALS
Wisconsin: 15,863 cases, 517 deaths.
Minnesota 21,960 cases, 899 deaths.
Iowa: 18,187 cases, 480 deaths.


Statewide, Wisconsin reported 279 cases and three deaths Tuesday. The state has seen single-digit death counts in five of the past six days and nine of the last 11.

The 279 cases is the lowest number in seven days, when 198 were reported May 19.

Fifteen percent of those who get the virus in Wisconsin end up hospitalized.

In Minnesota, there were 652 new cases and 18 deaths. The state has been under 20 deaths now for four consecutive days, after seeing back-to-back single-day highs in deaths (32, 33).

Iowa, which runs its counts in real time and does not release daily tallies, had 559 cases and 19 deaths in a 24-hour period beginning at midnight Tuesday. Monday, the state had 231 cases, five deaths over that same time.

Iowa has seen 12 or more deaths in a day eight of the past nine days.  

Worldwide, there have been 5.6 million cases and more than 350,458 deaths, according to John Hopkins data. Here’s a look at the most cases and deaths by country:
