La Crosse, Vernon and Trempealeau all report new cases of COVID-19, Minnesota sees another ICU high

One more confirmed case of COVID-19 in La Crosse, Trempealeau and Vernon counties on Monday.

La Crosse has now had 33 cases, with 26 having recovered. Nobody is in the hospital, nor has anyone died from the virus from the county.

This is the third consecutive day with a reported case in La Crosse County — the first time that’s happened in three weeks (April 8-10).


Totals in Wisconsin: 8,236 cases, 340 deaths.
Totals in Minnesota: 7,234 cases, 428 deaths.
Totals in Iowa: 9,703 cases, 187 deaths.


Trempealeau County reported its fourth case of the virus. Vernon got its second.

Statewide, Milwaukee County has the most cases at 3,296. Brown County is next at 1,448.  After that, Kenosha, Dane and Racine counties are in the 400-500 range.

Neither Winona or Houston counties reported new cases or deaths. Winona remains at 67 confirmed cases with 15 deaths. Houston has had just one case.

Statewide, Minnesota confirmed another 571 cases — the second-highest tally — and nine deaths. Minnesota hasn’t had single-digit deaths in 13 days — eight of which, the death toll was in the 20s.

ICU hospitalizations in Minnesota set another daily high Monday at 166. There were 155 on Sunday and 135 Saturday.

In Wisconsin, there was just one reported death and 272 cases. The state hasn’t had just one confirmed death since March 25. The first reported deaths from the state began March 20.

In Iowa, another 543 cases were reported, along with four deaths.

The public health dept. says its 1 in 55 people have now been tested in the state.

Worldwide, there have been over 251,000 deaths and 3.64 million confirmed cases with 1.2 million recovered.

The U.S. has 1.21 million cases and over 69,600 deaths — the most of any country by far.

Over 1,000 deaths from the virus were reported Monday in the U.S. The second-highest tally was just over 300 in France.

There were over 23,400 new cases Monday in the U.S. The second-highest tally Monday, just over 10,500 in Russia. Brazil was next at nearly 7,000.
