Winona County has first death from COVID-19

The first death from COVID-19 in the area has come out of Winona County.

The Winona County resident died from COVID-19 complications, the Minnesota Department of Health confirmed Wednesday.

The county has had 10 cases of COVID-19.

In Minnesota, there have been 17 deaths out of the 689 total cases — 60 of which were confirmed Wednesday.

Of those 689, 122 have been hospitalized — 54 as of Wednesday with 27 of those in ICU.
Statewide, 342 have recovered from COVID-19, which is up 54 from Tuesday.

Minnesota has done 21,191 tests.

In surrounding counties, Houston still has zero confirmed cases. Fillmore is at eight, while Wabasha is at six. Olmsted County jumped eight Wednesday to 61 cases.
