Smith and Bauer to face off for Onalaska mayor in April
The newly appointed mayor of Onalaska appears to be a heavy favorite in the April election, following a three-way primary in the mayor’s race on Tuesday.
Mayor Kim Smith received 53 per cent of the votes, with Terry Bauer coming in second with 27 per cent.
Jim Binash was eliminated in the voting, and Bob Muth also was listed on the ballot, but he withdrew a few weeks before the primary.
Muth still received more than 100 votes.
Smith moved up from the city council to the mayor’s office in Onalaska after the recent sudden retirement of two-term mayor Joe Chilsen.
