GREEN BAY — For the first time in school history, the Aquinas High School volleyball team is headed to the state championship.

Senior Lexi Donarski’s 21 kills helped lead the Blugolds to a 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-18) sweep against Waterloo on Friday in the WIAA Division 3 semifinals at the Resch Center.

At 11:30 a.m. today, fourth-ranked Aquinas (31-3) will play No. 1-ranked Howards Grove for the title.

Howards Grove (43-4) beat third-ranked Fall Creek (40-4) 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-7). Waterloo finished with a 31-11 record.

Aquinas last got to the state semifinals back in 2016, swept by Howards Grove, which went on to win the championship. Neither team has been back to state since, until this season.
