Onalaska’s Donarski earns all-ACC academic honors, says she’s coming back to North Carolina next season
The North Carolina women’s basketball team is getting one more year with Onalaska native Lexi Donarski.
Donarski posted on social media “run it back,” as she heads into her final year of eligibility — something she hinted she would be doing at earlier this year on WIZM’s La Crosse Talk PM.
La Crosse Talk PM airs weekdays at 5:06 p.m. Listen on the WIZM app, online here, or on 92.3 FM / 1410 AM / 106.7 FM (north of Onalaska). Find all the podcasts here or subscribe to La Crosse Talk PM wherever you get your podcasts.
Donarski also was named to the All-ACC Academic Team on Thursday.
Donarski is working toward her MBA. In her first season at Carolina, she played in all 33 games and started 32, averaging 10.5 points.
Donarski scored in double figures 17 times in the regular season for the Tar Heels, including 20 or more points four times.
Her best offensive game probably came in a 80-70 win against sixth-ranked North Carolina State, where she had 23 points, hitting 5 of 9 from beyond the arc. She also dropped 23 against Clemson, tying a career high for 3s made — which she’s done twice this season — going 6-for-16.
Donarski earned Academic All-Big 12 honors at Iowa State, where she earned her undergraduate degree and majored in management.
The All-ACC Academic Team recognizes both athletic and academic success. A student-athlete must have a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester, as well as a 3.0 cumulative average and also must have appeared in at least 50 percent of the season’s games.
