La Crosse board approves $100,000 parking study
The city of La Crosse is going to do another parking study.
Monday, the city’s Board of Public Works approved an update of the last local parking report, done five years ago by Rich and Associates of Michigan.
The same company will be brought to look at parking needs outside the downtown area, mainly near campuses.
The newest report will cost the city about $100,000, to be paid from parking revenues.
The last Rich report in 2014 identified a shortage of hundreds of parking spaces downtown for local drivers.
La Crosse parking manager Jim Flottmeyer said, instead of just focusing on downtown, the experts from Rich will see how parking should be handled in residential and college neighborhoods.
Flottmeyer added that the study will reach from downtown eastward to Losey Boulevard.
