UWL political expert thinks more should be worried about Russian meddling
Why aren’t Americans more concerned that a foreign country may have tried to meddle in the 2016 election?
UW-L political scientist Joe Heim asks that question…wondering why so many people want to be done with the Mueller investigation.
Heim calls evidence of Russian meddling in the last presidential race ‘one of the worst things’ that has happened in his lifetime, and ‘nobody seems to care.’
Heim says the Mueller report contains no proof that President Trump cooperated with Russia during the campaign.
But he also argues that Trump is not completely cleared of accusations that he blocked the investigation.

I agree. I admit I haven’t followed politics as well as I should have in the past. However, when I hear that there are countries that are trying to have an effect on our elections, it is extremely scary. I have always had trust that the American people have been the deciding force in the leadership of our country but now, well, who knows? I know that the president is very protective of his win in this election and he thinks despite the meddling there was no effect on the election but how is he to know really? Don’t jump on my back for being in favor of Clinton or being one who hates Trump. I have negative opinions of both actually, but I see positives in each too. I just feel like this meddling is the beginning of some very scary times for this country and I don’t think he is taking it seriously. I hope those who stand behind him are paying attention to this more than he seems to be. I have particular concerns that the American President is having conversations with the adversary who meddled in our election and it wasn’t a huge part of the conversation. Whether his campaign worked with Russia or not, we really need to take Trump out of this because it seems to distract from the HUGE issue.
