PDC principal resigns after physical abuse case

The Prairie du Chien Middle School principal, who was tried for scrubbing a student’s skin with a harsh chemical, will leave his job early next month. 

Aaron Amundson’s resignation takes effect May 3. 

Amundson submitted his resignation yesterday to the PdC school board. 

He has been principal at Bluff View School for 11 years. 

Last year, Amundson was acquitted on a physical abuse charge for causing a chemical burn, when he attempted to take a written message off the hand of a teenage student. 

But there were other criticisms of Amundson’s performance as principal, and the family of the injured boy is now suing the Prairie du Chien School District for damages.  

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
