La Crosse Center, vets, and parking top city council agenda
The La Crosse Center, a veterans home and paid on-street parking are all on the menu for city council members at 6 p.m. Thursday.
The council, meeting at City Hall, is being asked to endorse a new west-side expansion plan for the civic center to replace a different plan vetoed last summer by the mayor.
The new expansion plan has about a $42-million cap.
Also, after months of delay, the council may be ready to vote on a conditional use permit for a transitional veterans home on Farnam Street.
Many neighbors have raised objections to putting such a facility near their homes.
Lastly, there is a recommendation to let a $1-an-hour street parking plan be tested in both the UW-La Crosse and Western Technical College neighborhoods.

Regarding the Farnam St. vets transitional home: The vision of 8 men cooking out of just one kitchen is a little frightening, not to mention bathroom use. Have a nice day.
