For the second time, the La Crosse Center opened its doors for the public to come check out it’s new $42 million expansion plans.

Citizens could look at drawings of two possible building extensions to the west or the north and give comment.

La Crosse Center Board president Brent Smith said he’s getting messages to wrap up the planning process.

“And they look at me and say, ‘Get it done,’” Smith said. “I’m not being critical of anybody or anything but I think there’s a build up, as we’ve been at this for 4-5 years now.”

The board will meet on the morning of Dec. 31 to endorse one of the two plans so a recommendation can get to the city council before its January committee meetings.

Asked what parts of the proposed renovation seem to attract the most curiosity from the public, Smith said, “Going to the west, is that a good option or not? What’s going to happen to north hall, if we reduce the size of north hall? Whether we’re going to have space in front, an atrium and such.”

Smith is encouraged that people attending the open houses are sending comments to the La Crosse Center through social media.
