La Crosse man charged with murder in case of missing woman

The La Crosse Police Department announced charges in the Erin Bushek murder case.

Erik Sackett, 38, of La Crosse is charged with first-degree intentional homicide.

The investigation began June 4 when a call came in saying Bushek hadn’t been seen for several days.

Her body was discovered on June 17 by a fisherman in a Vernon County Lake.

The body had been weighted down by concrete blocks.

Police say Sackett, Bushek’s boyfriend, provided them with inaccurate statements.

He’ll appear in court Thursday, when more info is expected to be released.
