The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has released info on a search warrant that turned into a hostage situation on Monday.

Deputies arrived, warrant in hand at a residence in the Town of Alma where they believed a stolen vehicle was located in a shed.

A man inside the house, 44 year old Juan Gabriel Aguilar pointed a rifle out a window and threatened them.

A negotiation took place for about an hour, until Aguilar came out of the house holding a small child as a shield against police.

He charged and challenged them.

Further negotiation led him to finally release the child.

He was taken into custody and booked into the Jackson County Jail on numerous charges including endangering public safety with a dangerous weapon, child neglect, and receiving stolen property.

A woman in the house, 30 year old Jolene Gadbois was charged with child neglect and obstruction. A search of the stolen vehicle turned up several firearms and drug paraphernalia.
