Matt Binsfeld named 2018 Commodore for Riverfest

J.F. Brennan employee to preside over La Crosse’s summer festival
 

 

 
La Crosse’s Riverfest has now been around long enough for kids who grew up going to the festival to become the Commodore. 

Riverfest began 35 years ago, and new Commodore Matt Binsfeld is 40. 

Matt works with the J.F. Brennan Company, also known as Brennan Marine. 

He and his wife Megan will preside over the 2018 Riverfest, which starts on the 4th of July.  

Binsfeld says he was told of his selection in January, when attending a meeting about Riverfest sponsorship with some past Commodores in the room.

 

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
