Riders Club Road closes Monday for repaving

It will be a little tougher to get around on the north side of Onalaska starting Monday morning.

Much of Riders Club Road will shut down for a repaving. The project was scheduled to start last week but was pushed back by the early spring snow.

It’s the first of a three-part project for which the feds are picking up 75 percent of the $1.8 million bill under a federal grant program.

They’re pulling up the current pavement, putting down a thicker base and then repaving the road.

Crews will start with a section of the road from Franklin Street to Highway 35.

The road will be closed for that part of the project. The project should be done sometime in June.

Two other paving projects nearby are part of the same federal grant and will be done sometime this summer.

Crews will move onto the section from Franklin to Sand Lake Road after that but the street will remain open for the duration of that part of the project.

The second and third phases of the repaving projects are Braund Street from Highway 16 to County PH and on PH from Braund to Theater Road.

Those will all be complete this summer.
