Salaries, benefits of area school superintendents well over $150,000 for most

Numbers released for the 2015-16 school year by state 

Budgets are tight for local school districts due to state funding from Madison frozen the last few years.

Area superintendents haven’t felt as much of a pinch personally.

The Wisconsin Dept. of Public Instruction released salaries and benefits from 2015-16.

Here’s a list of salaries for area superintendents:

  • La Crosse’s Randy Nelson: $155,539 salary; $39,145 benefits; $194,684
  • Holmen’s Kristin Mueller: $142,003 salary; $39,844 benefits; total $181,847
  • Onalaska’s Fran Finco: $132,596 salary; $41,033 benefits; total $173,629
  • West Salem’s Troy Gunderson: $129,732 salary; $19,492 benefits; total $149,224
