Lack of obvious county symbol leads to modest-looking logo

‘LC’ logo approved by La Crosse County baffles many observers

Get used to seeing La Crosse County’s new logo on buildings and in advertising. 

A simple design of two boxes, containing the year of the county’s founding and the letters ‘LC,’ was endorsed by the county board last week, despite minority complaints that the symbol is too simple. 

Why not include a familiar image, like La Crosse’s two bridges? 

County administrator Steve O’Malley says the logo is supposed to suggest more than just the city of La Crosse. 
 
O’Malley argues that the logo, which cost about $10,000 dollars, is only one element of a larger campaign to make county residents aware of what services the county government provides.
