Lack of inventory has house sales down in county, up everywhere else

Median sales price in county: $180,000

Not just a busy year for home sales. The Wisconsin Realtors Association, in a new report this week, said 2016 is shaping up to be a record year.

It’s saying sales could go beyond marks set in 2005 for the year.

The group says September home sales were up by nearly seven percent over last September and are up five percent for the year.

It’s not as much of a boom in La Crosse County, where existing home sales numbers are down by almost three percent for the year, though the median sales price has jumped by nearly nine percent over last year at the same time.

It’s the first time in nine months sales were down in the county.

Local agents continue to blame a lack of inventory, saying they could sell more homes if there were more to sell. A tight market has pushed prices up, though; with the median sales price in the county for September at nearly $180,000.
