Women leave dog in car in 90-degree heat, mad at police for breaking window to free it

One also laughed at officer for cutting up his hand

SPARTA, Wis. — She laughed at a police officer and said, “That’s what you get,” after he cut his hand rescuing her dog trapped in 90-degree heat. 

That was the scene for Sparta police, who were called to the Walmart parking lot Friday when someone noticed a dog locked in a car.

Police had staff make an announcement for the owners to come open the door. Police waited 10 minutes. Nobody came.

So, the officer broke the car window to free the pup from the sweltering heat.

A few minutes later, Santana Martinez and Melissa Rincon finally returned to their vehicle and, maybe to nobody’s surprise they were both mad their car window was broken and happy the officer cut up his hand.

The Black River Falls women both received citations for animal cruelty.

Sparta police issued a reminder not to leave dogs locked in cars on even mildly hot days.
