Three county chase ends with arrest
Spikes couldn’t stop suspect vehicle
One man faces charges in three counties after a high speed chase on Sunday.
The chase started in La Crosse and went south into Vernon and Crawford counties, to the Lansing bridge and back, before the vehicle eventually was stopped on highway 35 near De Soto.
The Vernon County sheriff says the apparently suicidal suspect reached speeds up to 80 miles an hour and police eventually had to pin the vehicle between squads to slow it down.
Police used spikes at some point but those failed to stop the vehicle.
The driver apparently was swerving towards other traffic.
The suspect was apparently on the phone with a dispatcher during the chase. He faces multiple charges in all three counties.
