Kapanke makes state Senate run official

Republican will run against Schilling come November

Dan Kapanke made it official today.  

The former La Crosse state Senator wants his old job back. Kapanke announced this afternoon at the Republican Party headquarters in La Crosse in front of about 10 people and a few media members that he is running for the state Senate in November against Jennifer Schilling.

Kapanke, was defeated by Shilling in one of the 2011 recall elections, which followed passage of Act 10, restricting collective bargaining in Wisconsin.  

A few days ago, Kapanke filed papers with the state, announcing his intention to run again in the 32nd District.

Kapanke is also well-known in the area as owner of the La Crosse Loggers baseball team.

Born in Decorah Iowa. I've been a news reporter for the last 10 years, starting right out of college in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Other professional opportunities led me to Marshalltown, Iowa and Antigo Wisconsin, before I finally was afforded the opportunity here in La Crosse. I've been here since 2016.
