La Crosse man threatens to hire hitman

Woman showed police threatening texts

Prosecutors have accused a La Crosse man of threatening to hire a hitman to kill his roommate.

Rick Lofts was charged with felony intimidation of a victim and felony bail jumping Thursday.

Lofts was arrested after he got into a fight with his roommate on March 15.

After he was released from jail the next day, he began texting the woman and suggested he was going to take out a hit on her.

Lofts was ordered to not contact the woman upon his release. She reported the texts to Lofts’ probation officer Wednesday.
