Gas hasn’t been lower since 2009

La Crosse is $.10 higher
than state average

The last time people in La Crosse saw gas prices this low, at $1.79 a gallon, Barack Obama had just become president.

That dates back to January of 2009, when the average pump price in Wisconsin bottomed out at $1.65.

 That’s the lowest price in the state right now, recorded in the Kenosha area. La Crosse’s price is about a dime below the state average.

Last year, at this time, the statewide average was $2.03. It climbed to nearly $3.00 in August.
