A proposed La Crosse playground designed for autistic children may need more money.

The head of the city park department, Steve Carlyon, wants to transfer $250,000 dollars in funding from La Crosse County for softball programs at Erickson Park to the Trane Park.

Carlyon is asking the county’s permission to use that money for the new playground, along with another $100,000.

Carlyon says the county has been very helpful in planning for the special playground already. Gundersen Health System and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse are also taking part in the process.
