More info on new neighborhood-resource officers coming

Brings total to six, number of
cops assigned to section of city

We’ll hear more this week about the two new police assigned to downtown La Crosse as the new neighborhood-resource officers. 

La Crosse Sergeant Randy Rank says they’re still trying to figure out who they will be and where, exactly, they will be, as well.

“Right now, the geographical area will be the downtown community, downtown La Crosse,” Rank said. “The boundaries truly haven’t been set; that’s something we’re still working on at this time.”

Because they’re assigned downtown, the two new neighborhood cops likely will be stationed at the main police station in city hall.

The two new officers bring the total of officers assigned to certain areas of the city to six. The first four have been funded through donations and grants. These latest two are funded through taxpayer dollars.
