One lane added, another removed near Farm and Fleet
Only one way to get into F&F parking lot now
ONALASKA, Wis. – Drivers traveling east on Highway 16 through Onalaska will have to find an alternate way to enter the Farm and Fleet parking lot.
The left turn lane there has been removed. To get to the store, you’ll have to head to Woodman’s a half-mile down the road to turn around.
The city removed the lane because it actually extended the left-turn to South Kinney Coulee Road near Kwik Trip that heads to the Stoney Creek Hotel and Gundersen Lutheran. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation informed the city something had to e done, because traffic was backed up at that intersection beyond the turn lane and creating unsafe traffic conditions.
Onalaska City Engineer Jarrod Holter says it was a tough decision. And with the holidays coming up, he adds the city will be paying attention to that stretch of highway to see the effects of that decision.
The month-long project completed requirements from a transportation economic assistance grant the city received from the DOT in 2003.
