La Crosse man hit by car, dies on vacation

A La Crosse man vacationing with friends in Florida has been struck and killed by a large SUV.  24 year-old Michael “Mike” Gunderson was hit early Sunday morning while he and friends were walking along a beach, according to a Jackonsville television station.  The report says Gunderson died on the scene when a Ford Expedition suddenly accelerated, jumped a curb, hit Gunderson, a tree, a car and a trolley bus before stopping.  Police are still investigating and may charge the driver.  Apparently, the group was planning on returning to Wisconsin later that day.
